Have you heard of the “Miraculous Catch?”

Care Ministry is like fishing on the other side of the boat.

Our Mission

To help people, ministries, and organizations increase their caring skills so they will offer the level of care that maximizes their impact on our world.

Meet the Founder,

Dan Hettinger

Dan’s ministries have included:

  • Chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care at Hospice of Saint John in Lakewood, CO
  • Representative to the Faith Community for the Denver Hospice, Denver
  • Chaplain at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, CO
  • Chaplain at Denver Springs Behavior Health and Addiction Hospital in Englewood, CO
  • Pastor of Congregational Care at Mountainview Christian Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.

"It was like fishing on the other side of the boat."

For three decades I served in various roles of church ministry: pastor, church planter and staff member. There were some successes, but a lot of the time I wondered if my hard work was making a difference.

But, things began to change in a big way when I became a Hospice Chaplain.

Since then I have enjoyed people responding to my ministry and open to the message of Jesus in all settings, like never before. It has been and continues to be exciting. It is like “fishing on the other side of the boat.”

Dan has served as the Chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care Services at Hospice of Saint John in Denver, the Representative to Faith Community for the Denver Hospice in Denver, the Chaplain at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, the Chaplain at Denver Springs Behavior Health and Addiction Hospital in Englewood, and the Pastor of Congregational Care at Mountainview Christian Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.

For three decades I served in various roles of church ministry: pastor, church planter and staff member. There were some successes, but a lot of the time I wondered if my hard work was making a difference.

Then time began to change when I became a Hospice Chaplain.

Without any Clinical Pastoral Education and limited credentials, somehow, I was hired to be the night guy for the oldest hospice in Denver.

One day I stood on the steps of Hospice of Saint John and I prayed, "Lord, if you give me the opportunity to take back to the local church what I have learned here, I will.”

Well, here I am, to write and talk about how we can care effectively, in all situations, and provide the very best care ministry for everyone.

There is incredible need and potential in our world today. We were made for this time in history. This can be our finest hour.

Without any Clinical Pastoral Education and limited credentials, somehow, I was hired to be the night guy for the oldest hospice in Denver and the second oldest inpatient hospice in the USA.

The care at that hospice exceeded anything I had experienced or provided in the church setting—and I had pastoral-care gifts. It was there that I discovered there was a set of skills that produced that level of care. I learned those skills on the job and while studying Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

Ever since, those skills have worked in all my caring roles.

The church is at its best and its strongest when it cares well for people. In fact, we all are. I am a better husband, dad and friend when I use these caring skills to live and care at a deeper level. Ministry is exciting when people are responding, and people do respond to care. Care ministry is like "fishing on the right side of the boat."

Join me and my team. Let's make ministry unforgettable and exciting.
