As soon as I began to focus on care,
ministry became more satisfying and successful.

I was wearing myself out trying the "church growth thing."
But then came my new job as a Chaplain at Hospice of Saint John in Lakewood, CO.
And everything changed.
It was more than "my sweet spot." I believe Care Ministry is the way God meant for ministry to be.
Jesus said,
"Come, you who are blessed by my Father;
take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me...
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine,
you did for me."
Matthew 25:37b-40b.
Paul said,
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."
Philippians 2:3
As soon as I began to change my focus to care, because of a job that was about caring instead of growing a church, I felt God's pleasure and ministry became more satisfying and successful. My ministry within the parrish improved too.
I'm thankful for the change God brought to me through Hospice of Saint John. How will God bring the change of focus to you?
