Dear Colleague,
Sarcoma is/was "my" cancer--Chondrosarcoma specifically..
Last Friday I got the results from my one year scans. I am thrilled to report that I remain cancer free.
As Care Pastors and Care Givers, most of the time we care for people in crisis. Grief, trauma, addiction, mental/physical/emotional illness and injury dominate our opportunities to offer care through presence, listening, prayer and support.
These opportunities are rewarding. We are thrilled to make a difference in someone's life, but we wouldn't call them fun.
Sometimes, however, there are care opportunities that are FUN, like this upcoming 5K RUN. A year ago I was using a cane. This year I am training to run this "race."
I've invited my sons to join me. They are good runners. One of my sons, Andrew, pictured with my daughter in law, Kelly, even has a running podcast, Rust Belt Running.
We won't be running together, but we will be running in the same race. They will be waiting for me at the finish line, will be well rested, enjoying their second recovery drink and a snack by the time I finish.
But it is going to be fun. The Race to Cure Sarcoma is a premier running network of races in cities all across the nation this summer to raise funds to find a cure for Sarcoma.
I've already contributed a cancerous tumor to research- (LOL), Now I'm setting up a team to raise funds.
Will you support me? Or run the Race to Cure Sarcoma in a city near you and mention me in your registration.
Click HERE, reply, or be looking in upcoming emails. Details will be coming each week until I "run" on June 25 in Cleveland.
Fun race, run or walk events that are charities for a worthy cause are happening all the time!
It is a fun way to care and make a difference. Maximize fun events by making them care opportunities.
What you do matters, even when it is fun!
Your life matters,
